ANOTHER YEAR
September is my birthday month, and birthdays have a funny way of making you stop for a moment and take stock of where you are, what has changed, what has stayed with you, and everything that’s happened in between.
So, in honour of my birthday, all my fellow September babies, and anyone who’s ever looked back at a year and wondered where the bloody time went, this month’s Shifteye Photography Challenge is ANOTHER YEAR.
What does the passing of another year look like?
This month, photograph time, growth, change and the little markers that tell us life has moved forward.
It might be a portrait of someone at a particular point in their life. A place you’ve watched change. Something worn beautifully with age. A ritual repeated every year. A new beginning. An old friendship. A growing child. A self-portrait. A celebration. Something you’ve outgrown or something you’re only just growing into.
Interpret it loosely. It doesn’t need candles, cake or balloons.
We want to see what another year looks like through your eyes.
And if you’re celebrating a September birthday too, perhaps turn the camera on yourself. Make a portrait, literal or otherwise, of where you are right now.
